The Lion King Storyline and Review
There was a king. Very brave, good-natured, caring for the subjects, but his sly and wicked brother deceitfully kills him and becomes king himself. Later, the king's son grows up to avenge his father's death and returns peace and happiness to the kingdom. All of us have definitely heard such a story of grandmother and grandmother. This is also the essence of Disney's famous film 'The Lion King'. The animated musical drama film, first released in 1994, has been a children's favorite of the nineties. Now producer-director John Favreau has brought it back with high quality technology. Apart from English, the film is also being released in India in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
The film depicts the emotional relationship between Sher Jungle Muhassa (voice of Shah Rukh Khan) and his son Simba (voice of Aryan Khan), called Gaurav Bhoomi. On Simba's birth, the entire forest swells happily, except Mufasa's brother Scar (Ashish Vidyarthi). After knowing that Simba will become the king of the jungle after Mufasa, Scar starts making plans to remove him from the path and one day manages to kill Mufasa along with the lions' enemy hyena, and innocent of his death on Simba. Bursts and forces him to flee the forest. In which circumstances Simba grows up away from her family and will have to watch the film to know all this.
The story of the film is straightforward, simple and quite predictable. There are no special twist-turns. The biggest highlight of the Hindi version of the film is the voice of real father-son duo superstar Shah Rukh Khan and his son Aryan Khan as Mufasa and Simba. While Shahrukh's voice makes Mufasa royal, Aryan empowers the brave young lion Simba. Ashish Vidyarthi is perfect as Scar, while Asrani entertains in his iconic style as a woodpecker Jeju. However, in the case of entertainment, the pair of Timan (voice of Shreyash Talpade) and Pumbaa (voice of Sanjay Mishra) overshadows everything. The Bidu and the shorter Bambiya style of these two makes the audience laugh a lot. Apart from this, hymns are also fun to speak in Bhojpuri accent.
Shenji (voice of Achint Kaur), Rani Sherni Sarabi (voice of Shernaz Patel) and Namba (voice of Neha Gargav), Simba's girlfriend, have not had much of a chance as hymns. A weak link of the film is also that director John Favreau has not developed these characters better than they once seemed.
Not only this, he has also been able to create emotional moments between Mufasa and Simba. Apart from this, one of the weaknesses of the film is its music. Despite being a musical film, songs other than Hakuna-Matata do not leave an impact. The film has a rating of 8.5 on IMDb, while the 1994 original film received four ratings.
